Omaha Beach Honor and Sacrifice - Main Theme

A musical theme that is very dear to me. A summary of so many years working on Back to Normandy. Musically speaking then.
You can hear the pitch version (a bit refined today), after which I was also allowed to underscore (with music) the entire documentary Omaha Beach, Honor and Sacrifice in 2015. The documentary, as some of you know, received an Emmy Award. There is a photo of the beautiful statue on the website. The theme you hear here is the basis for the entire documentary.
In this video I have also incorporated many other memories: the meetings with the veterans, Americans as well as British and Canadians. People with whom I spoke about their experiences in Normandy for many years ago and told them again on the website Back to Normandy. Also controversial moments that I will not go into further, it has been described on the website.
Very special were the meetings with the 29 Infantry Division: with the veterans and playing with the 29 Inf. Div. Band. You can also see photos of the making-off of my film “The Last Pilgrimage” dedicated to the Normandy Veterans Association (NVA).
Our joint trip with the 110 Transport Company (110TCIE) of the NL Army to Normandy has a special place. These are also veterans, but from missions to Afghanistan and Srebrenica (Dutchbat).
At the end the meeting with Dame Vera Lynn and the concert of the Holland Legion Band from Michigan USA in the Meerpaal in Dronten. All in all, a special musical memory.

Een muzikaal thema dat mij zeer aan het hart gaat. Een samenvatting van zoveel jaar Back to Normandy. Muzikaal gesproken dan.
Je hoort de pitch-versie (vandaag wat bijgeschaafd) waarna ik in 2015 ook de hele documentaire Omaha Beach, Honor and Sacrifice mocht underscoren (van muziek voorzien). De documentaire kreeg, zoals sommigen van jullie weten, een Emmy Award. Op de website staat een foto van het mooie beeldje. Het thema dat je hier hoort vormt de basis voor de hele docu.
In dit filmpje heb ik ook veel andere herinneringen verwerkt: de ontmoetingen met de veteranen, zowel Amerikanen als Britten en Canadezen. Mensen met wie ik vele jaren in Normandië heb gesproken over hun ervaringen en die ik heb vastgelegd op de website Back to Normandy. Ook controversiële momenten waar ik nu niet verder op inga, het staat al jaren op de website beschreven.
Erg bijzonder waren de ontmoetingen met de 29 Infantry Division: met de veteranen en het meespelen met de 29 Inf. Div. Band. Ook zie je foto’s van de making-off van mijn film “The Last Pilgrimage” opgedragen aan de Normandy Veterans Association (NVA).
