On Friday, 08 October 1943, (a part of) the aircraft of the 12 squadron (RCAF), took off for a mission to Hannover in Germany from a station (airfield) in or near Wickenby.
One of the crew members was Sergeant J A O Strachan RCAF. He departed for his mission at 23:15.
He flew with a Avro Lancaster (type III, with serial ED995 and code PH-X). His mission and of the other crew members was planned for Saturday, 09 October 1943.
