99 Infantry Battalion (Separate) (USA) to Bad Hertsfeld

Now temporarily separated from the Regiment the 99th on the 11th of April travelled 300 miles into southeastern Germany to the town of Hertsfeld (=Bad Hertsfeld,FV) in the Third Army area. It was the Battalion's mission to patrol roads, woods, and towns, cleaning up pockets of SS troops and other German soldiers which had been by-passed by the rapidly advancing American army.
