104 Infantry Division (USA) attacked Stolberg
The biggest air assault of WWII was through the heavily defended fortress towns of Aahen, Stolberg and Eschweiler. The Division positioned themselves in the town called Aachen. This allowed them to launch an assault on the pill boxes and other fortifications of the Siegfried Line. The 104th attacked Stolberg and pushed against heavy resistance.
